7 Best Projectors According to Our Reviewers (2024)

Projectors offer a larger screen size and a more cinematic viewing experience than TVs, but that doesn’t mean they’re any easier to set up. That’s why we have a whole guide on How to buy a projector to check!

Unless you are using a mobile option, you will want to make sure you have projector stand ($20) and audio cables are routed properly to your projector location. This is because setting up a full-size projector to fit your screen, focus, etc. can be tricky, so once you have everything adjusted, you’ll want to leave it that way.

Make sure you have enough lumens (how bright the projector is at its peak, the higher the number the better). 2,000 lumens or more is a good starting point for any type of light-based viewing, but we recommend 3,000 lumens or more if you’re viewing in a bright room.

Another thing to consider before purchasing a projector is how much space you need to properly install the projector. In most cases, you’ll need about 10 to 15 feet between the screen and the projector (be sure to check the “throw distance” listed by the manufacturer in the manual) to achieve a screen size of over 100 inches.

Without a completely dark room, the image may appear blurry and difficult to see. If your room doesn’t have windows, consider installing blackout curtains. For more information on how to set up your projector after it arrives, I highly recommend this video.
