Wildermyth, a procedural narrative RPG, is coming to PS5 and PS4 on October 22 – PlayStation.Blog
Hello, PlayStation gamers! We at Auroch Digital have partnered with Worldwalker Games to bring the critically acclaimed Wildermyth to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, launching on October 22nd.
Let us set the scene!
Yondering Lands, the game’s setting, is a multi-layered papercraft world where every scene looks like it was taken straight from a pop-up picture book. Reminiscent of tabletop role-playing games, Worldwalker Games has taken loving care to create something truly unique, breaking the mold and exploring new ideas: forget orcs, elves or goblins — how about psychic insectoid dragons and clockwork zombies?
Extreme character depth
Like the best tabletop RPGs, your characters and choices are at the heart of Wildermyth. Each of your heroes has a unique history, personality, and appearance, and will form relationships with your other heroes. All of these elements change and evolve as your characters age, encounter mysteries, and overcome challenges.
Important choices.
As your heroes journey from humble peasants to legendary warriors, you’ll encounter countless events and situations that present you with choices – some of which may have lasting and character-shaping impacts.
…whether it’s tactical battles against countless evil creatures – use the right abilities to strengthen your allies or weaken your enemies.
…or when you encounter one of the game’s many story events. Choosing to trust the mysterious wolf god can lead to some terrifying changes in your hero’s appearance and fighting abilities.
…and if feelings develop between your characters – the plot will develop further and there may be additional fighting sequences.
A New Approach to Death
Of course, there are times when the unthinkable happens: a character dies. If the worst happens, and a hero dies, you have a choice to make. Retreat and live to fight another day with permanent consequences, or go out in glory with one final blow and be remembered for generations to come.
No adventure can last forever, and as characters age and campaigns end, your heroes can be enshrined in custom legendary pantheons, summoning them in future playthroughs.
What’s new in Wildermyth: Console Edition?
At Auroch Digital, we have been meticulous in ensuring that the beloved experience from Wildermyth’s original release is not lost when optimizing it for consoles. With that in mind, we have redesigned the user interface and controls with gamepads in mind, ensuring that in-game elements are easy to read and controls are intuitive for the best gaming experience.
Another new feature coming to Wildermyth: Console Edition is the Monster Compendium. This tactical book provides in-depth insights into the creatures you’ll encounter on your journey through the Yondering Lands, as well as fascinating snippets of lore and background information on the game’s various factions. We’re also introducing local cooperative multiplayer, allowing up to four players to command multiple characters and share an ongoing story together.
If all that isn’t enough to get you excited, we have even more news to share!
Buy the physical version of Wildermyth: Console Edition and you’ll get your very own Monster Compendium, the trusty book made into a physical copy! Along with that, you’ll also get the Off-hand Item Skin Pack (DLC), which includes a treasure trove of off-hand skins, such as shields, torches, daggers, and more!
Stay tuned for more news and updates and get ready to start your Wildermyth adventure on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on October 22, 2024.
