Bill Maher Tells Hawk Tuah Girl He Thinks Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Will Break Up
Bill Maher doesn’t believe that “Tayvis” will last long in this world. On his podcast, Random ClubComedian predicts the end of pop phenomenon Taylor Swift and Super Bowl winning football star Travis Kelceher relationship, saying bluntly, “He’s going to dump her.”
Maher made his bold prediction in a chat with the viral star Haliey Welch, or also known as Hawk Tuah Girl. 68 year old man Real Time with Bill Maher The host told Welch, 21, that while he believes Swift is “a lovely person,” he doesn’t see her high-profile relationship with the Kansas City offensive lineman lasting much longer — in part because he thinks Swift is “a little old” to play a football player’s girlfriend.
“I just feel like 35 is a little old to be saying, ‘My boyfriend is a football player and I wear his number to the game!'” Maher said. “I mean, come on.”
While some football fans certainly shared Maher’s frustration with Swift’s presence at Kelce’s NFL gamesWelch doesn’t seem to mind Swift or her relationship. “Whatever makes her happy,” Welch said. “If that’s what she wants to do and that makes her happy, that’s none of my business.”
Though Welch tactfully told Maher to mind his own business, the comedian then delved deeper into Swift’s relationship with Kelce—predicting not only that the relationship would end, but that Kelce would be the one to end it. “He’s going to dump her, you know that?” Maher said. “With her, it’s like Gatorade at the Super Bowl, you know you’re going to get dumped. You just don’t know when.”
A longtime Swift fan, Welch tried to put a positive spin on Maher’s negative comments, thinking about the potential upside of Swift’s split: new music. She cited Swift’s song “Dear John” as an example, which many believe is about the singer’s relationship with John Mayer. “You have to think about it this way. If he did that, can you imagine the next album we would make? It wouldn’t be ‘fuck John Mayer,’ it would be ‘fuck Travis,'” Welch said.
Swift and Kelce have been on good terms since they began dating in July 2023. In the year since, Kelce has won Super Bowl LVIII with the Kansas City Chiefs, while Swift has won her fourth Grammy for album of the year for her 2023 album. MidnightDespite their respective successes and seemingly strong relationship, Maher still insists that the cliché that Swift exploits her personal life for art—something artists have done for centuries—is “so cheesy.” “That was a long time ago,” he says of Swift’s relationship with John Mayer. “She still sings about it?”
Even though no one asked Maher for his opinion, that didn’t stop him from taking one last swipe at Swift. “It seems like it’s a recurring theme,” Maher says. “At some point, you just want to say, maybe you should write a song called ‘Maybe It’s Me.'” For the record, Swift did just that in 2022: the song was called “Anti-Hero” and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Maybe we should let the international pop star and 14-time Grammy winner write music instead of the podcast host.
