President Joe Biden withdraws from election
On Sunday, July 21, President Biden officially announced his decision to withdraw from the re-election race.
The politician has confirmed he will not be on the Democratic ticket in 2024, sharing the news in a Report details on X (formerly Twitter).
“Serving as your President has been the greatest honor of my life. And while I intend to run for re-election, I believe it is in the best interests of my party and the country for me to step down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term. I will speak to the Nation later this week with more details about my decision,” Biden wrote.
Biden also thanked the American people for their support during his presidency and expressed his gratitude. Vice President Kamala Harris because of her important role beside him.
“Now, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of the people who have worked so hard to see me reelected. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all of this. And I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the American people for the faith and trust you have placed in me. I believe today what I always have: that there is nothing America cannot do — when we do it together. We just have to remember that we are the United States of America,” Biden continued.
CNBC reported that Biden’s decision comes after growing pressure from Democrats as well as celebrities like George Clooney urged him to make way for a new candidate to challenge the Republicans. Donald Trump.

Biden tests positive for COVID-19
Biden’s decision to step down from the 2024 presidential race came days after he tested positive for COVID-19.
As The Shade Room previously reported, the White House confirmed that President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 while in Las Vegas on July 17.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the president’s physician, reported that Biden had only mild symptoms, including upper respiratory issues, a runny nose, a dry cough, and general fatigue. After testing positive for COVID-19, Dr. O’Connor prescribed the antiviral drug Paxlovid.
