Pokémon Sleep Reportedly Made $100 Million in Its First Year
Sleeping Pokémonsleep tracking app where you can catch them all by catching the Zs, reportedly brought in an impressive $100 million in revenue in its first year (thanks, VGC).
According to recently released AppMagic data PocketGamer.Biz The majority of revenue comes from users in Japan, who have spent about $73 million on the app since its launch on July 17 last year, the company reported. The remaining money comes from users in the United States ($17 million) and Taiwan ($4 million), AppMagic data continued.
As you might expect, in-app spending increased during Pokémon Sleep events like the Raiku Research event (revealed in Pokémon Giveaway February 2024 showcase) or seasonal celebration. The Holiday 2023 event is said to be the app’s highest-grossing week to date, with $4 million recorded in seven days.
AppMagic data shows that Pokémon Sleep attracted around 9.8 million downloads last year, 44% of which came from Japan (North America came in second at 17% and Taiwan again came in third at 7%).
Of course, this is small potatoes compared to beef. $1 billion per year the revenues we saw earlier from Pokémon GOBut $100 million is no small number — especially for a sleep-tracking app.
In preparation for the birthday celebrations, a ‘gift week’ is currently underway in Pokémon Sleep, where you can earn bonus Sleep Points for logging in daily. More information about the app’s first anniversary event is expected to be shared by @PokemonSleep Twitter later today.
