New Law in California: Social Media Reacts
Several new California laws have recently gone into effect, and social media is reacting to them.
The LA Times California Governor Gavin Newsom said he has approved about 900 new laws in 2023. However, many of the laws take effect on July 1.

New law takes effect in California
The new laws address a number of issues that could significantly improve the lives of Golden State residents, including affordable housing and mandatory rape drug testing. There’s also a bill that would make it easier to repair electronics yourself.
One bill making the rounds on social media would require hospitality and tourism businesses to include all additional fees in their advertised prices. For example, concert fees, cleaning fees at short-term rentals, and resort fees at hotels would have to be displayed upfront. There’s also a bill that would prohibit landlords from charging more than one month’s rent in security deposits. Previously, tenants could charge three times the rent.

Furthermore, California is the third state in the United States to pass the Right to Repair Act.
