Andy recalls awkward moment with Oprah
Tonight’s entertainment Andy Cohen is celebrating the 15th anniversary of his Bravo series, ‘Watch What Happens Live.’ The live, interactive late-night show features guests from entertainment, politics, and pop culture.
To mark the milestone, Cohen reflects on the highs and lows of his career. While the show has produced many memorable moments, one of the most memorable appearances was with Oprah Winfrey in 2013.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Andy expressed the importance of having Oprah on the show.
“This is a huge moment for me and the program. I’m an Oprah fan,” Andy explained.
However, when talking to EVERYBODYAndy explained that everything was going well until he decided to ask Oprah if she had ever “dip into her pond.”
“It meant a lot to me that Oprah Winfrey was doing this show. It was great and I turned around and asked her if she had ever had sex with a woman. I mean, couldn’t I just leave it alone?”
Andy further explained that that moment and question is one of the few things he regrets, even though it’s a question he often asks guests.
In the 2013 interview, Oprah was quick to respond to Andy’s question with a direct answer.
“No, no, I don’t. Thanks.”
According to Entertainment Tonight, the talk show host continued to reveal more details about his interview with Oprah, mentioning that he heard from her best friend King Gayle after that.
“Gayle King told me that weekend that Oprah didn’t understand what I meant by the woman’s pond. I think I explained it pretty well there, but listen, I’m so grateful that Oprah did the show and I still am. I think it’s still my favorite episode.”

Andy not only shares his scariest moment on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ but also reveals his favorite guests, including Patti LuPone.
The producer also explained that he believes ‘Watch What Happens Live’ has maintained its success because of its spontaneity and authenticity.
“The secret to success of ‘Watch What Happens Live’,’ I think, it’s spontaneous, it’s authentic, it’s fun, it’s funny, I go there and people never know what’s going to happen. People let their guard down here. It’s also live, we play at night, we serve alcohol,” Cohen explained.
