Olivia Henson marries Hugh Grosvenor in a custom wedding dress with nods to both families’ history
Olivia Henson may not technically be a member of the royal family, but her tiara outfit at next Friday’s wedding Hugh Grosvenor7th Duke of Westminster, worthy of being queen.
Friday’s ceremony was attended by Prince William (the person put to work at the ceremony as an usher) and Princess Eugenie, marks the UK’s most exciting social event of the year. Grosvenor has close ties to the royal family: His godfather is none other than King Charles IIIand he himself was godfather to William’s eldest son, Prince GeorgeAnd Prince Harrythe son of, Prince Archie. The video was posted to social media on Friday shows Henson arriving at a very windy scene in front of a church, as her dramatic veil wraps around her.

Her custom dress and veil were designed by Emma Victoria Payne. The dress is made of ivory silk crepe satin and an ivory silk organza veil, featuring floral embroidery hand-painted by Payne, based on Tatler. The look also incorporates a very personal touch: lace trim from Henson’s great-grandmother’s veil from around 1880. The intricate embroidery also features the wedding date and the couple’s initials hidden within the design. The neckline and cuffs of the new Duchess’s three-quarter length dress were decorated with scalloped lace. If the dress’s six-foot detachable skirt wasn’t impressive enough, the back of the dress also features a dropped waist and a large keyhole closed with a button at the top.

Henson also wore a Grosvenor family heirloom on his big day. Fabergé myrtle crown, dates from 1906. The diamond tiara, with myrtle leaves and berry motifs, was worn by a number of Grosvenor brides. It’s true that there’s something borrowed.
As for her “something blue,” Henson walked down the aisle on her father’s arm in statement blue heels, a bold outfit choice for a society wedding.
Her bouquet included flowers picked at Eaton Hall, the Grosvenor family estate: meadow grass, ox-eye daisies, irises, roses, clematis, mock orange, scabwort, sweet peas , astrantia, lily of the valley, and love in the mist.
