SnuzPod4 Bassinet Review: A simple and beautiful Bassinet
Everything related to sleep a newborn baby is scary. Almost every parent feels a pang in their heart every time they put their baby down for the first few weeks. It’s biology.
So who do you trust to create a safe space for them to sleep? Where is a safe place to put your little one, nestled in a straitjacket so he can’t roll away and suffocate himself while you sneak into the living room to roll up the apocalypse 529 plans? The Brits have the answer: the SnuzPod4, a simple wooden nightstand that now occupies a permanent space next to my mattress, has been popular in the UK for many years.
Since my first child is only a few months old, my experience with him is limited. the best cradles. But I find this one simple, beautiful, and a shocking testament to sleep deprivation. I’ve yet to accidentally do anything sketchy with it, which I can’t say about some of the other parenting tools I’ve tried (I’m looking at you, stroller and carrier).
Group of people
With mid-century-modern-meets-Ikea vibes (and assembly), the SnuzPod4 and its associated base came together in about half an hour of frenzied pre-birth construction. There is a lower part that is used as a support for the crib to be placed on top. The bassinet itself can be placed on the base or you can simply swing it on the floor (suitable for travel).
After you build the top and bottom (which is basically just putting the fabric on top of some metal rods and screwing the thing together), you’re basically asleep. It comes with a breathable mattress so you can worry less about your child suffocating at night (although that fear will never completely go away, I’ve realized), and it has tilted position for gentle reflux if your baby vomits more than the already large amount so all babies vomit. Enjoy!
That is JPMA certifiedmeaning it meets ASTM safety standards for infant beds and I especially like that it rocks back and forth really easily when my daughter can’t seem to get completely asleep and just needs to be soothed a little more.
Near the house
This is a bedside bassinet that is increasingly popular among parents who don’t want the potential risks of co-sleeping but want easy access to their baby during sleep (and the benefits of being in the same room). ). It measures just under 20 inches, fits easily next to my bed, and the smooth bottom of the base helps it slide into place on wood or carpet.
You can adjust it according to the height of the bed (there are seven positions to choose from). Ours turned out to be right in the middle, let’s do the math. If you sleep too close to the ground, you can ditch the base altogether and use the bassinet flat on the ground, where it also has a flat, sloping bottom so you can rock it. We found this especially helpful right after my daughter was born, when a snowstorm (and related chaos in Portland, Oregon) forced us to stop at my parents’ house for a few days. .
