‘Tetris Forever’ Adds Curious Sequel ‘Welltris’ via Free Update

Digital Eclipse has announced that the sequel to Tetris is curious Welltris will be added to the excellent compilation title Tetris forever via a free update on Switch.

The game, first released in 1989, has similar basic gameplay to Tetrisbut adds an extra dimension, essentially turning the gaming area into a ‘well’. It’s a strange one, and it’s no surprise that it didn’t reach the same cultural heights as its predecessor, but nevertheless, it’s still a great new addition to the game. Digital Eclipse also promises to add more games in the future, so stay tuned.

Not only that, Tetris Forever also received some welcome improvements, including the ability to remap controls on Tetris Time Warp and the Electronika 60, MS-DOS, and Apple II versions of Tetris. Audio issues with the Switch version have also been patched.

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

More customization options: Players can now remap their controls in Electronika 60, MS-DOS & Apple II games on the console. This functionality was previously added to the PC version in November.

Fixed converted version sound errors: At launch, conflicts with the Rewind function caused audible audio issues when playing some classic games in the Nintendo Switch version of Tetris forever. As a first step, the team disabled the Rewind function in games with audio glitches, which fixed the problem. The team will consider the possibility of restoring Rewind in a future update.
