Blinkit launches ‘Bistro’ app to compete in 10-minute food delivery race with rivals
Blinkit, the express commerce platform owned by Zomato, has launched a new app called Bistro, designed to provide food delivery in just 10 minutes. The move is part of Blinkit’s strategy to compete with similar services from rivals such as Zepto Cafe and Swiggy Bolt.
How does Bistro work?
The Bistro operates similarly to its competitors, offering a selection of meals, snacks and drinks prepared in kitchens strategically located in different areas. Currently, the app appears to be in beta, available only in select areas of Gurugram.

Description of the application above Google Play Store highlights its ability to meet the needs of users looking for fast food options. It promises to deliver a variety of food options, including snacks, meals and drinks, in just 10 minutes. “Whether you’re craving a snack or a meal, Bistro will bring your food straight to your door quickly,” the description says.
Take advantage of Blinkit’s distribution network
Blinkit’s existing delivery network, including dark stores and an established logistics infrastructure, could give Bistro an edge over its competitors. Using these resources, Blinkit aims to provide faster delivery times and expand the Bistro’s reach beyond its original areas of operation.

The Bistro app is available on Google Play on December 6, 2024 but is not yet listed on Apple iOS Store. Its launch comes a day after Zepto, another express commerce company, announced plans to introduce a separate app for Zepto Cafe, which has become popular in the express delivery food sector.

Bistro vs Zepto Cafe
Compared to Zepto Cafe, which is expanding its physical stores, Bistro’s model relies on cloud kitchens and optimized processes to meet its 10-minute delivery promise. Both Bistro and Zepto Cafe, along with Swiggy Bolt, offer similar menus of quick bites like coffee, sandwiches, pastries, pizza and samosas.
This is not Zomato’s first attempt at providing fast food delivery services. Previously, Zomato launched a service called Zomato Instant but the service was discontinued. It remains to be seen how successful Bistro will be in the competitive 10-minute food delivery market.
