The sequel to NieR Automata is coming after the Anime and Rebirth

the NieR This series is absolutely incredible and is enjoying the popularity and success it has deserved since the first game (with two versions) in 2010. However, there is one big problem. With the end of NieR Automata cartoons and rebornfans of the series now have nothing to look forward to. So, it seems now is the time for a new and true game. NieR Automata next part.

Back up a bit, NieR Automata first launched in 2017. It follows seven years of extended development after the original NieR on previous generations. Since then, we certainly have rebornbut it’s a subpar mobile game. You guessed it, there hasn’t been a real third main title in the franchise in over seven years.

We just covered the gap between the first two matches in real time. Additionally, we are now also in a new generation of consoles. The similarities here are quite obvious, while the series continues to be a popular one for Square Enix. It seems like 2025 is the right time to announce and release the next game in the series.

But the wait has been long since then NieR Automata is not the only factor to consider. There’s also the factor that series fans like me have nothing to look forward to from now on. NieR. NieR reborn discontinued earlier this year in April 2024. This is quite disappointing as it was arguably the best, most professional free mobile gacha game I’ve ever played.

And worse yet, the anime NieR Automata Version 1.1a ended its run in September 2024. There isn’t any major new content to look forward to at this time. But it still doesn’t stop there. What has Yoko Taro been doing in the past few years? The eccentric and lovable director of the series is currently in a bit of a slow phase.

The last notable work Taro created was NieR And KamiErabi animated series. Work on the latter is still in progress but Yoko Taro has shown that he can work on multiple products at the same time. Additionally, he hasn’t worked on a notable game since Voice of the card titles in 2021 and 2022. Considering that he has worked on smaller titles in the same style as these such as SINoALICE at the same time NieR Automatait seems reasonable that he’s been cooking something else this whole time.

2025 seems like the right time for this third game to launch. Interestingly, Square Enix’s slate of games for next year is a bit light compared to what we know so far. All we know now is Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D remake. Worse yet, if I had to guess it could happen in the first half of the year, so that would mean a barren year.

Barring any other major announcements, this will likely be the lightest year in Square Enix’s history. Kingdom Hearts 4 seems a bit early for 2025. The final part of Final Fantasy VII remake the trio feels as early as 2027. Next FFXIV the expansion won’t come out until 2026. In addition to other remakes, smaller titles like perhaps a Harvest 2Or maybe a new one brave defaultThe year 2025 seems the loneliest for Square Enix titles.

That is, unless one NieR Automata The next part appears. This game series has moved from a niche market to a more mainstream role-playing game. This will be a great experience for current consoles such as PS5, Xbox Series X/S and possibly the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Now seems like the right time to NieR the game will be announced and released in 2025. So don’t disappoint us, Yoko Taro.

NieR Automata currently available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and computer. The anime adaptation is also available to stream on Crunchyroll.
