News influencers have overshadowed traditional media

“I hope that will convince Democrats that we need to invest more in this area. Ryan Davis, co-founder and CEO of People First, a political influencer and partnership, said they need to work with creators, not just young creators but all all kinds of creative people. marketing firm that partnered with the Biden and Harris campaigns.

Amelia Montooth, a progressive creative who supported the Harris campaign, believes that the Democratic Party needs to start building their own progressive media ecosystem. She’s thinking not just of liberal Joe Rogan or progressive influential individuals but of entire outlets. She actually tried to do it herself: Montooth is also the co-founder and CEO of Mutuals Media, a new digital media company trying to overthrow right-wing cultural brands like Barstool and Old Row.

“The right thing that really works is having a channel that I believe starts with Barstool Sports to reach a mass audience,” Montooth said. “The left is missing the top and middle of those channels… Instead of working with individual influencers, they should focus on building that part of the ecosystem, that channel.”

One of the more surprising findings in Pew’s report is that most news influencers in the study had X accounts (85%). YouTube comes in second with 50% of creators using the platform. The report doesn’t mention how active they are on gland.

Even with new options like Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads, X still has a monopoly on text-based social platforms. However, the report does not account for the shift away from X after the election. However, in the coming weeks and months, I’m curious how that 85% might fall in the face of new competition from alternatives like Bluesky, which has grown to more than 20 million users after the launch. elector. Musk wants X to become a digital town square, but billionaire Trump’s support could make that dream more difficult to realize.
