For context, Dave Coulier told Hoda Kotb last week that doctors diagnosed him with non-Hodgkin lymphoma about six weeks ago. Although it is “aggressive,” Dave said medical experts have determined through tests that the cancer is “very treatable.”

This is why Dave Coulier had to replace John Stamos

Since learning his diagnosis, Dave has gone through chemotherapy, surgery and hair loss. His previously blond and flowing hair has now been cut short. To show support, John Stamos Share some bald hat pictures introduced himself and Dave Coulier on Monday on his Instagram feed. His caption admired his former co-star’s strength.

“There’s nothing like wearing a baseball cap and practicing some Photoshop skills to show love and solidarity with my brother @dcoulier. You’re tackling this with so much strength and positivity – it’s so inspiring. I know you will get through this and I am proud to be with you every step of the way. I love you,” Uncle Jeese wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.

John Stamos also praised Dave Coulier’s wife, Melissa, as “the most wonderful person” and his brother’s “true lifeline.” However, the comments section was filled with mixed reactions, from applause to criticism.

Dave cleared the air about John’s joke

In an Instagram post on Tuesday (November 19), Dave Coulier clarified John Stamos’ intentions with the bald cap. He began by saying he was “sorry to see the barrage of negative comments” at the beginning of his cancer journey.

“It’s our (John and I) friendship, and this is how we handle this very difficult time. I’m a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knew how to cheer me up, and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap – he was a truly loving friend and brother.”

Coulier added that he has seen and heard stories of people being inspired to get tested for cancer at their doctor’s office. So in the meantime, he plans to “smile in the face of adversity.”

“When I lost my sister Sharon, my mother Arlen and my niece Shannon to cancer, we tried to stay positive and laugh together through the worst. So, I decided to spread information about early cancer detection to help people. That’s who I am. I wish nothing more than love for all of you.
