Pokémon TCG Pocket is said to have brought in big money
Pokémon trading card game bag arrived on mobile last week and after achieving impressive results 10 million downloads in the first 48 hours, it is known to have achieved some big sales numbers over the weekend (thanks, VGC).
As reported by MobileGamer.bizMobile market research firm AppMagic estimates that TCG Pocket has brought in $3 million a day since launch, raking in $12 million in its first four days on the market.
To make things sound even more impressive, the company suggests that this will make the trading card app’s revenue three times higher than Pokemon GO during the same period – still bringing in about 1 million USD per day.
Of course, it’s still early days for TCG Pocket. The novelty will certainly wear off in the coming years, so we won’t expect to see numbers like these forever, but, credit where credit is due, it’s not a bad start .
According to AppMagic, players in Japan are by far the biggest spenders, contributing 45% of total earnings to date. The United States follows with 25%, Hong Kong and Taiwan each account for 4%, while South Korea, New Zealand and France account for 3%.
It will be interesting to see how long the magic lasts. In our reviewWe described Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket as a fun game for card collecting but felt it was let down by its monetization (obviously not that it disappointed many).
