Timothée Chalamet had an incident during the same event in New York City
Timothée Chalamet stunned fans after making a surprise appearance at an actor’s lookalike contest.
The Wonka star hosted the event in New York City that attracted a chorus of screaming fans.
Chalamet was seen posing for photos with his curly-haired doppelgangers during a brief appearance in Washington Square Park.
City police stormed the crowded event that attracted hundreds of people.
Variety reported that Chalamet snuck through the crowd hidden behind a mask and baseball cap, before approaching two look-alikes posing for photos, causing screams throughout the park.
The contest, organized by YouTuber Anthony Po, promised a prize of $50 (£39) to the winner and attracted thousands of respondents to the online invitation.
A fan of Call Me by Your Name and Dune actor Lauren Klas described what makes a good Chalamet. “It’s all in the nose,” he told The Associated Press.
“Literally all of his bone structure.”
The contestants were also asked about their French skills, plans to make the world a better place and romantic intentions with Kylie Jenner, whom the star is rumored to be dating, AP reported.
In the end, Miles Mitchell, 21, from Staten Island, won the crown dressed as Willy Wonka, before tossing candy from a briefcase to the crowd.
Earlier this month, a new trailer was released for A Completely Unknown, in which the star plays Bob Dylan.
The biopic is set in the 1960s and follows Dylan’s rise to the top of the charts.
The film is expected to be released in December in the US and in January in the UK.
