Hurricane Milton devastated Florida leaving a trail of destruction as winds reached speeds of 120 mph (205 km/h) in many parts of the state.
Tornadoes also caused severe damage, especially on the Atlantic Coast, the BBC’s North America correspondent Tom Bateman reported.
At St. Petersburg, the roof of Tropicana Field stadium was blown off due to strong winds. According to local media, it was used as a shelter for first responders but there were no reports of injuries.
The storm also caused large waves in the Gulf of Mexico.
