One woman was killed and 10 people were injured in a shooting in southern Israel

Local authorities said a 25-year-old woman was killed and 10 others were injured in a shooting in the city of Beersheba, southern Israel.

The gunman was shot dead at the scene after what police described as a “suspected terrorist attack” at the city’s central bus station.

Footage posted online, which the BBC has not been able to verify, shows people dead or injured inside a McDonald’s.

Israel’s ambulance service said doctors were treating 10 victims, some of whom suffered gunshot wounds.

The ambulance service said one woman was in a “moderate to serious” condition and four others were in a “moderate condition”.

They were taken to nearby Soroka hospital.

Immediately after the attack, Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev called for the families of the “terrorists” to be expelled from the country.

“It is time to introduce a deterrent punishment to prevent attacks on Israeli territory,” she wrote on X.

Last week, seven people died in a gun and knife attack in Tel Aviv after a gunman opened fire on people in the Jaffa area.

Israeli authorities say they are on high alert across the country ahead of the first anniversary of Hamas’ attack on southern Israel on October 7 last year, sparking the current war in Gaza.
