Tata suspended production of iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 cases after the fire

Tata Electronics has suspended production of iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 cases following the fire, although supplies will not be affected as there are enough stocks for the next three months, sources aware of the developments said on Monday.

A major fire broke out at the chemical plant of Tata Electronics’ electronic components manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu early on Saturday morning.

Apple and Tata Electronics officials held meetings to review the situation. Tata Electronics has not given any timeline for resuming production of iPhone cases. Production has now been suspended indefinitely,” a source familiar with the developments told PTI.

Tata Electronics is the first Indian company to be included in Apple’s list of iPhone components suppliers.

“Tata Electronics will have some information about resuming production by the end of the first week of October,” the source said.

Questions sent to Tata Electronics and Apple did not receive any response.

Another source said the disruption in production at the Tata facility will not hinder shipments of iPhone cases.

“Apple has inventory of iPhone cases for about the next three months. The company has also started planning to import iPhone cases after that. There appears to be no impact on iPhone shipments from India due to the fire incident at Tata Electronics,” the spokesperson said. the source said.
