Trump spreads baseless conspiracy theory that Democrats are denying hurricane aid in “Republican areas” of North Carolina

Donald Trump, who have never heard one unfounded, baseless conspiracy theory he didn’t carry out amplificationannounced Monday that he had received word that Democratic officials were deliberately denying aid to “Republican areas” of North Carolina devastated by Hurricane Helene, a claim that appeared to without any basis in fact and wildly politicizing a natural disaster that killed at least 100 people.

On Truth Social, former president wrote told his followers that he was “going to Valdosta, Georgia, to pay his respects and bring various relief materials, including fuel, equipment, water and others to the State.” He then added: “I also plan to stop in North Carolina, which has been really hard hit. I have a lot of resources available to them, but access and communication is currently limited and we want to ensure that Local Emergency Management can focus on helping those affected heaviest and not interested in me. I’ll get there soon, but I don’t like the reports I’m getting about the Federal Government and Democratic Governors intentionally not helping people in Republican areas. GREAT!”

Then he was indignant declared“Biden and Harris… have drowned Americans in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and elsewhere in the South.”

Unsurprisingly, Trump has not provided any evidence for any of these reports. note “does not appear to have any basis in fact” and that “The majority of North Carolinians vote Republican, so it would be nearly impossible for any relief effort to ignore those conservative”. Trump has tied with Kamala Harris in North Carolina, according to a CNN poll conducted earlier this month, so it’s not surprising that he would use a terrible natural disaster to try to score political points. Nor is it surprising: that he did not mention that, during his time in office, he Local officials are thrown away in blue states affected by storms and wildfires, and, according to one former official, wants to cut federal aid from California because the state’s residents did not support him.
