Silent Hill 2 Historical Society website appears to use AI art
As part of an upcoming promotional cycle Silent Hill 2 remake, Konami has opened the website for Silent Hill Historical Society, a new alternate reality game created by Daiyonkyokai. However, it appears that the Silent Hill Historical Society website features AI art. [Thanks, Sisslethecat on X!]
New Silent Hill History Society Announced website Available in both English and Japanese, it features information about the fictional city as if it were a real place, including maps and even fictional association staff. Additionally, you can find many harmless hints about new updates that will be included on the site in the future.
However, artist and writer October Keegan (@Sisslethecat on social media) discovered some inconsistencies on the artwork featured on the Silent Hill Historical Society website that seemed to indicate that it was created using generative AI. While Konami commissioned the site, the Japanese company Ocean Sutra was ultimately responsible for creating the site, and there is no indication that the Bloober Team remake development team had any involvement. Neither of them commented on the site at the time of writing.
You can see the AI art featured on Silent Hill 2 Remake of the Historical Society’s website here, courtesy of October Keegan:
Silent Hill 2 will launch on PS5 and Windows PC on October 8, 2024. The game will be exclusive to PS5 for one year.
