‘Schitt’s Creek’ star Emily Hampshire is excited for Eugene Levy and Dan Levy to host the 2024 Emmys
Eugene Levy And Dan Levy made Emmys history in 2020, when the final season of their beloved series Schitt’s Creek completely swept the comedy categories.Now, father and son will take the Emmy stage again on Sunday as the first father-son duo to host a primetime awards show. Schitt’s Creek co-star Emily Hampshirewho plays motel employee Stevie, said she texted Dan, offering him some words of encouragement while working out the details of their plans.
“I asked Dan, how many outfits are you wearing? And he showed me all the outfits he changed, and it was so cool,” Hampshire said. Vanity Fair while attending the BAFTA North America telecast on Saturday. “And I was like, is there going to be a musical number? He hasn’t told me anything about that. I don’t think it’s going to happen, but I want him to.”
Regardless of how the Levys plan to handle the Emmys, Hampshire has no doubt about the father-daughter duo’s hosting abilities. “I really think they’d be the best hosts ever. It’s a really tough hosting job, and there’s a lot of room for error, but I think they’d do a great job. They’ll be invited back every year. Just having them have dinner together is fun. So it’s going to be great.”
The Emmy Awards are in full swing this weekend, just eight months after the last Emmy ceremony was canceled due to a writers’ and actors’ strike. On the eve of the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, the television community and Emmy nominees got an early start on the celebration at the BAFTA North America Television Tea. The relaxed afternoon event was filled with champagne and plenty of crustless sandwiches.
