Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ Disqualified From CMA Awards Nominations
The Beyhive is bustling behind Country Music Association has announced the nominations for this year’s awards ceremony. Beyoncé appears to have received no recognition from the organization for her hit album ‘Cowboy Carter’, which took the country music scene by storm earlier this year.

Note that Beyoncé isn’t the only outsider or newcomer to country music this year, but she was snubbed from every nomination. Malone’s postwho earned four nominations for his song ‘I Had Some Help’. Shaboozey also earned two nominations for their song ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’. Both artists were featured on Beyoncé’s song ‘Cowboy Carter’. Malone performed ‘Levii’s Jeans’, while Shaboozey performed ‘Spaghettii’ and ‘Sweet Honey Buckiin’.
Shaboozey reaction to his dual nomination in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying it was an “honor”. In a subsequent post, he directly thanked Beyoncé for highlighting black country artists and creating “one of the most innovative country albums of all time”.
Shaboozey is one of three black artists, including the duo War and Treaty, recognized by this year’s Country Music Awards. Meanwhile, for the third year in a row, members of the Country Music Association nominated Morgan Wallen for Entertainer of the Year, According to Associated Press.
The same source noted that ‘Cowboy Carter’s release falls within the eligibility window for the Country Music Awards, so it’s unclear why it didn’t receive any nominations. According to the AP, CMA members, including music executives, artists, promoters and songwriters, are responsible for nominations. The CMA has yet to address the issue of Beyoncé being banned. However, their show is set for November 20.

Beyoncé previously said that ‘Cowboy Carter’ is not a country album
Beyoncé has yet to respond to what her fans are calling a snub. However, the Texas native has been clarified before that the project has been five years in the making and said it is not a country album.
“I focused on this album as a continuation of RENAISSANCE… I hope this music is an experience, a journey where you can close your eyes, start at the beginning, and never stop. This is not a country album. This is a Beyoncé album. This is ‘Act ii: COWBOY CARTER,’ and I’m proud to share it with everyone,” the singer wrote on Instagram 10 days before the album was released.
However, the genre’s influence on the work is undeniable. In April, the project reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart, making Beyoncé the first black woman to achieve the feat since the record began in 1964. Additionally, Cowboy Carter’s single “Texas Hold ‘Em” reached No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart. Additionally, Bey also reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart, According to Associated Press.
Prior to the release of ‘Cowboy Carter’, Beyoncé also hinted that the project was inspired by the backlash she received while performing at the 2016 Country Music Awards. At the time, she was on stage with the Dixie Chicks.
“The criticism I faced when I first started this genre forced me to push the boundaries that others placed on me. Act II is the result of challenging myself and taking the time to bend and blend genres together to create this work,” Bey shared in April.
