Google Pay UPI Circle Feature Rolling Out: Know How to Set Up and Make Payments

Google Pay is a popular app for making online transactions in India. The payment app recently announced a series of new features to enhance user experience at the Global Fintech Fest 2024, including UPI Circle, UPI Vouchers, Clickpay QR, and prepaid utility payments. These features aim to streamline the payment process within the app.

UPI Circle is one of the latest features that allows users to allow friends and family members to make payments. This feature will be useful, especially for users who do not have their bank accounts linked to UPI. This UPI Circle feature allows an active Google Pay UPI user to add another user to the existing account. There are two options to delegate payment responsibilities, the first allows the primary user to Google Payments The primary user can control all payments made by the secondary user by approving every request. Secondly, the primary user allows the secondary user to make payments by himself by setting a transaction limit of up to 15000 Rupees.

How to activate Google Pay UPI Circle?

To enable the UPI circle service, the primary Google Pay user will have to add a secondary user. For this, the primary user must have their own Google Pay UPI account linked to their bank account or any other payment service. The primary user must have the secondary user’s contacts saved on their mobile phone and the secondary user must have a valid UPI ID to effectively use this new feature.

Steps to set up UPI Circle

1. To enable the UPI Circle feature, the secondary user has to click on the QR code that appears in the profile tab inside the UPI app.
2. The primary user has to click on their profile section to open the UPI Circle page.
3. The primary user must scan the secondary user’s QR code or upload it from the gallery.
4. Then the primary user has to select one of two options to choose the authorization type. Including partial authorization and full authorization.
5. Once the authorization type is selected, the secondary user must approve the request to enable the Circle UPI service.

Steps to make payment using UPI Circle

1. The secondary party must scan the QR code and initiate the payment request after providing complete details.
2. The payment request will then be shared with the primary user for approval in case of partial authorization.
3. Secondary users are free to make monthly payments up to Rs 15,000 without further approval in case of full authorization.
