7 new movies and TV shows on Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, etc this weekend (January 20)
We’ll agree with you: this weekend isn’t a particularly great time to see what’s new on streaming services. While those who like Our last, Vikings: Valhalla and The Menu got off to a great start in January, the following days are bound to be less exciting on the entertainment front.
That’s not to say there aren’t any new movies and TV shows streaming, but when our recommendation list topped it was That ’90s Show on Netflix and the Night of Violence on Peacock, it’s hard to get excited about spending the weekend on the couch. Trip to the cinema, anyone?
In any case, we went ahead and rounded up the seven biggest Netflix additions, prime minister video, HBO Max, and more to help you find something – anything! – to enjoy for the next few days.
That ’90s show (Netflix)
The Fox sitcom That ’70s Show will be revived on Netflix this weekend as That ’90s Show.
Unlike the short-lived That ’80s Show, this sequel is set in the same world as the original production – albeit 15 years later – and follows Eric and Donna’s daughter, Leia Foreman (Callie Haverda), when she visits her grandparents (played again by Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp) for a summer in Wisconsin.

Night of Violence (Peacock)
If you’ve ever wanted to see Santa embark on a murderous rampage (no, neither did we) look no further than Violent Night on Peacocks.
Main actor Strange things‘ David Harbor, this jubilant sadistic black comedy – which hit theaters just before Christmas last year – pits The Great Man himself against a group of mercenaries who attack an entire family’s estate believe in Christmas Eve.

Netflix continues its commitment to Korean big-budget storytelling with new sci-fi drama Jung_ E.
