7 NCP MLAs from Nagaland declare support to Ajit Pawar | India News

NEW DELHI: In another setback for Sharad Pawarall 7 NCP MLA’s nagaland declared support for the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawarfaction of.
“All seven MLA NCPs in Nagaland have sent letters of support to Ajit Pawar, deputy premier of Maharashtra,” said Vanthungo Odyuo, president of the Nagaland unit of the Congress Party.
On July 16, Ajit Pawar and Patel, along with all the other cabinet members of the NCP, made a surprise visit to the founder of the NCP, heatedly arguing about their case, offering an apology and asking for his blessing for a unified NCP, but the NCP patriarch did not commit and did not say a word.
Again, on July 17, all the legislators of the Ajit group submitted a new submission before Pawar Senior, but the latter said nothing. However, later that same day, Sharad Pawar made it clear that he would not be able to align himself with “divisive political parties like the BJP.”
Some reports have suggested that while Ajit Pawar has joined the Shinde-Fadnavis government, the BJP may want to attract more NCP legislators because of uncertainty over the membership of Shiv Sena legislators led by CM Eknath Shinde, who are facing disqualification proceedings.
While the Ajit group claims to have the support of 33 MLAs, the Sharad Pawar camp says it has the support of 20 MLAs. Ajit Pawar also wrote to the Electoral Commission asking for the naming of the NCP and the ‘alarm clock’ symbol.
