The Research and Education Foundation (TERF) will award the Pure Retirement Fund (TRF) $5,000 to be used for educational purposes. TRF, whose mission is to rescue old, unfit racehorses from abandonment, abuse and slaughter, works with correctional facilities in eight states to provide training. job training for prisoners, horse caretakers unfit for a second sporting career. TRF will use the funds to implement Second Chances Farm Groom Elite (SCGE) in all TRF Second Chance Programs. TRF’s goal is to provide a standard level of education at each facility, educate inmates on the proper care of purebreds, and create more skilled individuals who can earn get a job after being released from prison.
