49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo sprained throw-in

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is play through 3rd degree sprain of the ulnar protective ligament in the right thumb and fractured bone, and he committed some unfortunate errors in Sunday’s playoff win over the Dallas Cowboys, against the Green Bay Packers this coming Saturday night.

It looks like Garoppolo is facing another physical setback coming this weekend.

Based on Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday that Garoppolo sprained his right shoulder (thrown) in the second half of Sunday’s win. Shanahan added that he expects Garoppolo to train on Tuesday and that the sprain is considered “mild”.

“He had to go through some pain and a lot of things, but in the end he tested okay,” explains Shanahan, David Bonilla in total 49ers WebZone.

Garoppolo never left Sunday’s competition because of the problem and completed 16 of 25 172-yard passes without a touchdown and an interception against Dallas. Rookie Trey Lance is next on the depth charts, but Shanahan has no doubt he’ll stick with Jimmy G, as long as the veteran is cleared by the team’s medical staff.
