Rescue Horses in the Mid-Atlantic

Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) has awarded a prize of $4,000 to MidAtlantic Horse Rescue (MAHR) for educational purposes. MAHR’s mission is to rescue Thoroughbreds from feed lots and kill stables and move horses directly off the track. After careful quarantine and evaluation, horses are accepted into loving shelters as sport horses and pets.

MAHR plans to continue the series of Purebred-only clinics on the farm with renowned specialists. These clinics are free for MAHR graduates and low cost for all other Thoroughbreds. This encourages adopters to adopt Thoroughbreds from the MAHR, as well as providing the MAHR the opportunity to meet the adopted horses and their new owners on a regular basis. It also highlights the many great qualities of the Thoroughbred as a sport horse.
