3DS and Wii U eShops will stop working today

Nintendo is officially shutting down the 3DS and Wii U eShops today, March 27. This is your last chance to buy 3DS and Wii U games from both eShops.

Nintendo announced the decision to close both eShops back in February 2022, which confirms that while users will still be able to re-download games, receive software updates, and play online even after stores close, new purchases will not be possible again. Users also won’t be able to play free demos or add funds to their Nintendo eShop accounts through the 3DS or Wii U.

After March 27, users with funds left in the 3DS or Wii U eShops can still use the funds to buy Switch in the Nintendo eShop. Users can merge their wallets by linking their Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo account.

If you’re wondering how much it costs to buy each game that’s about to be delisted, Jirard “The Completionist” Khalil got the answer. The YouTuber spent a total of $22,791 on all Wii U and 3DS games in the eShop. Khalil will donate a portion of the game to organizations like the Video Game History Foundation.

We also gather List of 3DS and Wii U games you should buy before they disappear from official digital stores. Some of them include Kirby Planet Robobot, a great game by Kirby, Fire Emblem Fates–the physical version costs tons of cash, so it’s much cheaper to buy digitally–and Pocket Card Jockey, solitaire horse racing game.
