30 Injured In 40+ Vehicle Pile-Up On Pune-Bengaluru Highway

At least 30 people were injured after an oil tanker crashed into several vehicles at Pune’s Navale bridge today. An official with the Pune Fire Brigade said the crash resulted in 48 vehicles being pulled over.
“A serious road accident occurred at Navale Bridge on Pune-Bengaluru Expressway in Pune, in which about 48 vehicles were damaged. Rescue teams from Pune Fire Brigade and Development Authority The Pune Metropolitan Area (PMRDA) has arrived at the scene,” the official said. .

Rescue teams from the Pune Fire Brigade and the Pune Metropolitan Area Development Authority arrived at the scene.
According to local media, the brakes of an oil tanker failed and it collided with several vehicles. In the accident, which is believed to have happened at 9pm, oil spilled onto the slippery road, causing other vehicles to jostle.

The accident caused traffic on the road to Mumbai to be blocked with a stretch of more than 2 km.
Navle Bridge is becoming a hot spot for traffic accidents in the past few days. On Friday, a woman was killed after being hit by a speeding car near a bridge on the outer ring road.
