3 Odisha Students Killed By Speeding Car While Standing Near School After Exam
Three children died and another was seriously injured when a car drove past them in the Sonepur district of Odisha on Wednesday, a police officer said.
The official said the vehicle was seized and its driver was arrested.
All four children, sixth graders at Saradhapalli Upper Primary School, were waiting outside the school gate after appearing to check in when the speeding car crashed into a wall before crushing them under the wheel. its car, he said.
One of the children died on the spot and the rest were taken to a local hospital. After that, the other two people succumbed to their injuries.
Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief over the incident and announced Rs 30,000 as compensation for the relatives of the students who died.
Naveen Patnaik also announced Rs 50,000 for injured students.
