The Conference units in Odisha, Jharkhand and Haryana on Tuesday passed resolutions in favor of Rahul Gandhi for the position of party chairman, joining at least eight other congressional commendation committees (PCCs) has been traced back to him.
Besides the three PCCs supporting Rahul, party units in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and J&K have thrown a lot behind the Wayanad MP while the Kerala and Telangana units are expected to follow suit in the next few days.
Haryana PCC passed two resolutions – one urging Rahul to submit nominations for the top position and “authorize the new AICC president to finalize the PCC”. Resolutions were passed before CWC member Selja, Rajya Sabha Congressman Deepender Hooda and president of state affairs Jitender Bhardwaj can visit the party office. Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala and former CLP leader Kiran Choudhary did not attend the meeting.
In Kerala, several congressional leaders have come out against Shashi Tharoor – who has suggested in recent days that he might file papers for the highest office – putting pressure on the PCC leadership to summon Set up a joint agency meeting immediately.
“We do not take Tharoor’s candidacy seriously. He did not consult the state leadership before finalizing his candidacy,” said seven-time MP Kodikunnil Suresh. Opposing Tharoor, former Kerala PCC director Ramesh Chennithala said: “The leaders of the State Parliament certainly want Rahul Gandhi to be the president of the AICC.” Another former PCC director, Mullappally Ramachandran, said: “The time has come for Rahul Gandhi to assume the post of AICC president. Only he can unite the party and energize the organization. ”
In Telangana, the PCC is ready to pass a resolution in favor of Rahul for the top position in a day or two, after the Chief of State Assembly Revanth Reddy’s return from ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Kerala. State leaders, including MP Nalgonda N Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, Madhu Yaskhi Goud, V Hanumanth Rao and Mallu Ravi6 have said it is the right time for Rahul to lead the party. “Rahul Gandhi, with his all-India charisma and understanding of issues affecting the country, is the most suitable person to lead the Congress as well as the country,” said. Uttam Kumar Reddy speak.
Meanwhile, the day after Maharashtra PCC passed a resolution urging Rahul to take the position of director of the AICC, a section of state Parliament leaders felt that in an established democracy, it would be appropriate suitable for him to run for office.
