On Tuesday, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 2024 electric sedan was launched with a sleek design, fast-charging electric architecture and up to 320 horsepower.
This is just the second action in Hyundai’s Ioniq electric battery future.

Prophecy: From Concept to Reality
While what underpins the Ioniq 6 is important, its design is a highlight. The fast roofline, curved front end and duck-billed spoiler blend elements of the first-generation Porsche Taycan and Mercedes-Benz CLS. The design screams, “Look at me, I’m gorgeous!” The The prophetic concept of pixelated lighting elements that translate into production elements aren’t quite futuristic, but still very appealing. Inside, the concept’s Joy-stick controls are gone. The future is here, but it is not the future. The two-spoke steering wheel and twin 12.0-inch screens of the dashboard are covered by a single pane of glass that appears to have been lifted from the Ioniq 5.

Fast charging
The design is “sexy”, but the foundation of the Ioniq 6 is Hyundai’s secret sauce. Ioniq 6 will go above automakers E-GMP . Dedicated EV skateboard-style platform. It’s rigid, lending great driving dynamics to future N models. But more importantly, it’s efficient and can recharge quickly. Based on the 800-volt architecture, the Ioniq 6 will be able to charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, according to Hyundai.
Like the Ioniq 5, 6 will feature bidirectional charging that can power a home or while camping. Power connectors will allow for a variety of uses where a large battery makes sense.
The same 58 or 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack options found in the Ioniq 5 will likely be available in the Ioniq 6. Rear-wheel drive models will have 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. lb-ft while the full-time two-wheel drive models with the larger package will have 320 hp and 446 lb-ft. Models with rear-wheel drive and larger batteries will have EPA ratings above 300 miles, but official ratings won’t arrive until nearer to launch.

Waiting game
The Ioniq 6 won’t launch in the US until early 2023. Pricing is unknown, but the Ioniq 5 starts at $41,245, including destination. Expect the Ioniq 6 to cost more, but aim to bring down the price of the Tesla Model 3 at $48,440.
