2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV spy photos: Spying on mid-size electric SUVs

Mercedes-Benz’s EQE SUV mid-size electric SUV has been spied on once again, and this time we have video.

It’s one of the few vehicles designed around a dedicated electric vehicle platform called EVA, which debuted in 2022 EQS large hatchback.

The foundation has since appeared in 2023 EQE mid-size sedan and 2023 EQS SUV large SUVand in its next and final act will appear in this EQE SUV.

The EQE SUV is coming later, which means we’ll see it as a 2023 model. It will be built at Mercedes’ plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where the EQS SUV was built.

The EQE SUV may look like the EQS SUV, but there are some minor differences. The rear doors and trunk section don’t stretch here, compared to the EQS SUV. The EQE SUV’s front overhang is also shorter and its hood is positioned not as high. The EQE SUV also appears to have a front fender separate from the hood, while the EQS SUV has a combined front fender with the hood, like on the EQS hatchback and EQE sedan.

There are no photos of the interior, but the design here will be suitable for the EQE sedan, which has its own interior design (shown below) that matches the EQS hatchback and EQS SUV. This means that buyers can expect a wide Hyperscreen display as an option.

Hopefully the EQE SUV will have the same powertrain setup as the EQE sedan at launch. This means the standard setup should have a 90 kilowatt-hour battery and a motor in the rear delivering 288 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. A more powerful setup with an engine also in the front for all-wheel drive will also be offered and you can count on all-wheel drive to make the cut, be it a standard feature in the US

In terms of range, the larger, more powerful EQS with a 107.8 kwh battery delivers a maximum EPA-rated range of 350 miles. We can expect something similar for the smaller EQE SUV due to its smaller battery. Maybe Mercedes will launch models with a higher range at a later date.

We will also see Mercedes-Benz AMG launch its own version of the EQE SUV, like prototype has been tested. Expect the powertrain to be shared with AMG’s takes on EQE sedanthat means up to 677 hp and 738 lb-ft to the touch.
