2022 PGA Tour: 3M . Open Betting Guide

Aside from last week’s Open Championship, we didn’t have a great field for the 3M Open’s return to North America. I hope you followed my suggestion to throw some units on Cam Smith last week (and, yes, I also made some other “losing” suggestions, as always).

All you have to do is look at the odds to see how wide this week’s event is. No player is below 10-1 and it is not the norm for Tony Finau to top the scoreboard.

Finau and Hideki Matsuyama are the only players in the field who are in the top 20 of the world golf rankings. That’s not to say we won’t get a competitive event, but it could have some names that we don’t see often near the top of the leaderboard.

The FEDEX Playoffs are coming up so the best thing about the event might be the points that golfers can win on an open court.

Bets to consider

Davis Riley 25-1

Riley has not competed in the Open or the Scottish Open, so he should be well rested for the event. His numbers may not jump to yours but he has had four top 10 finishes in his last 10 events, including a second at Valspar. He’s exactly the type of player who can take advantage of a more limited field.

Chris Gotterup 45-1

You could be forgiven for not knowing much about the top 2022 college golfer since he has less than 10 PGA events under his belt. In those tournaments, he finished 4th and 7th. With limited field, this is the perfect week to focus, play your game and surprise.

Cameron Champ 70-1

How often do you get a champion back for a good price like this. Past form is always a good indicator and the event has only been part of the PGA Tour for a few seasons so not everyone understands it well. You’re getting this price because Champ missed out on five consecutive discounts.

Nick Hardy Top 10 +400

Hardy didn’t make the trip across the pond either. His three best results all come in 2022 and with a limited field I want him to have a chance to stay with the leaders. His game is a great fit for the course.

Top Adam Hadwin 20 +140

This won’t bring you a big payoff but you can see he is very close to the top of the odds table and is expected to play well this week. He doesn’t have past numbers at 3M but he has played well on similar courses before.
