2 Children Killed, 50 Injured As Cylinders Explode At Rajasthan Wedding

Officials said a leak in the gas cylinders led to the powerful explosion.

Jaipur:

Two children were killed and around 50 people injured after two gas cylinders exploded during a wedding near Jodhpur in Rajasthan on Thursday. Officials said a leak in gas cylinders kept at the wedding venue led to the powerful explosion.

Part of the house where the wedding was held also collapsed due to the impact of the explosion.

Twelve people are said to have suffered severe burns.

The incident happened in the village of Bhungra, about 60 kilometers from Jodhpur.

According to Himanshu Gupta, a collector of the district, the explosion happened before the groom’s procession was about to start from their home.

“It was a very serious accident. 42 of the 60 injured people were transported to MGH hospital. Treatment is underway,” Mr. Gupta said.

Minister Ashok Gehlot is expected to visit the injured in the hospital this evening.
