A 1998 Toyota Supra seized from the collection of an alleged drug lord that sold for $265,000 at a recent J. Stanley Paine auction, according to CD driver.
The final year model of the coveted A80 generation, the Supra is one of 13 A80 Supras and other cars seized by police in 2020 in Massachusetts from a now-deceased drug dealer. The collection also includes a 1993 Supra with a twin-turbo engine, a six-speed manual transmission and a mileage meter of just 8,169 km. That car sold for $237,500.
The 1998 Supra had more mileage – 22,962 miles – but it was painted in the rarer Quicksilver color, while the 1993 Supra was painted in Super White. Emotions can also play a role. One Supra . A 1995 Supra single owner with just 7,000 miles sells for $201,000 on Bring an intro in July 2021. Two more were sold for just over $150,000 each on this year’s Wear Trailer.
As the kids of the 1990s accumulated more than disposable income, the cars of that era were skyrocketing in value. It’s a phenomenon similar to the muscle car collectors boom of the early 2000s fueled by nostalgic Baby Boomers. But the A80 Supra also has star power thanks to the “Fast and Furious” series. An original car sold for $560,000 at auction last year.
Toyota has also tried to steer this wave of nostalgia. Not only it revive Suprabut it also started to create reproductive organs for models A70 and A80.
