JABALPUR: Youngest victim of hospital fire in Jabalpur, 19 years old Tanmay Vishwakarmawas hospitalized minutes before the inferno broke out on Monday afternoon.
Tanmay’s father took him to New Life General Hospital when he had a fever and doctors recommended hospitalization. From his hospital bed, the boy sent a photo of himself to family and friends with the message that he would be back soon. Just minutes after this photo was pinged on his mobile phone, his father Aman Vishwakarma received a call from Tanmay, where he was calling for help. “Dad, there’s fire around and I can’t get out. Please come and save me,” said the youngster.
There was one last scream and the phone was dead.
“My son woke me up at 2.49pm and called for help. He was still on the call when he became silent,” the heartbroken father told TOI on Tuesday.
Tanmay was among eight people killed in the fire. On Tuesday, police arrested four owners of the hospital – all of whom are doctors – after investigators discovered that the hospital’s fire safety no objection certificate was invalid. Expires in March of this year.
Police have registered a lawsuit against the hospital director, Dr. Nischint Gupta, Dr Suresh PatelDr. Sanjay Patel and Dr. Santosh Soni and assistant director Ram Soni Under IPC sections 304 (causing death by negligence), 308 (grievous murder) and 34 (common will), SP said, adding that Soni had been arrested and police were in the process. looking for directors.

According to the officials, the district health and medical director, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation and other officials wrote to the management about the fire. NoC but no action was taken for four months.
Jabalpur SP Siddharth Bahuguna said, “The hospital implemented a temporary NoC on fire safety in March 2021. There are not enough fire extinguishers and no exits have been identified. The Civil Service and CMHO wrote to the hospital about the NoC’s expiration, but no fire safety checks were carried out. There are no emergency exits at the hospital.”
