12 people died of carbon monoxide poisoning at the Gudauri ski resort
Police say 12 people have died of carbon monoxide poisoning at a Georgia ski resort.
According to officials, the bodies of 11 foreigners and one Georgian national were found in the sleeping area above a restaurant at the Gudauri ski station in the north of the country.
Police said “preliminary examinations did not reveal any traces of violence on the body” and that it appeared to be an accident, AFP news agency reported.
Gudauri is the largest and highest ski resort in the former Soviet Union.
