12 big announcements made at Google I/O 2024 that you can’t miss: Gemini 1.5 Flash, Veo, Project Astra, etc.

CEO Sundar Pichai spent the entire keynote talking about new AI features and improvements for Android, Search, Workspace, Photos, and other Google services.   2. Flash Gemini 1.5: This is a lightweight all-in-one model powered by Google’s AI, faster and more cost-effective. Google’s AI model is optimized for “narrow, high-frequency, low-latency tasks.” It can perform tasks like summarizing, chat applications, annotating images and videos, extracting data from long documents and tables, etc.

3. Gemini for Google Workspace: Google will integrate Gemini 1.5 Pro into Workspace apps like Docs, Gmail, Meet, Drive and more. In Gmail, chatbots will be able to summarize and respond to messages in seconds. These features will be available to Gemini Advanced users in June.

4. Gemini 1.5 Pro: Sundar Pichai announced that the powerful AI model will add a larger context window with 2 million tokens in private preview, allowing the chatbot to perform even more complex tasks such as financial analysis. Longer documentation, code base, videos, etc

7. Veo: Google has announced a new AI video creation tool that can create high-quality, 1080p videos longer than a minute. The tool is designed to understand prompts based on different effects, cinematic variations, etc., which are essential for developing an interesting video.

8. Gemini Nano to Chrome: Google also announced the integration of Gemini Nano into Chrome on desktop. It is a built-in assistant that will run on the device, allowing users to create text, and it can also perform tasks like autofill.

9. Gemini on Android: Google said it will add a new AI-powered assistant to Android devices, helping users be creative and productive. This assistant will include features like “Ask this video” or “Ask this PDF,” which can simply respond to user queries. These features will work across Gmail, Google Messages, and YouTube. Additionally, it will include phishing detection.
