Police at UP’s Prayagraj arrested 10 men for allegedly selling platelet plasma to the families of dengue patients.

Police chief Shailesh Pandey said: “We asked these men about the gangs in Prayagraj being able to transfuse juice into platelets, but they said it didn’t happen – rather, plasma. is being transmitted in the form of platelets,” said Sheriff Shailesh Pandey.
“Dengue has spread a lot in recent days, increasing the demand for platelets. That’s what these men took advantage of and tricked most of the poor,” the official said. .
He said the arrest was made in a sketchy manner, adding that several bags of plasma were also seized, in addition to some cash, a mobile phone and a vehicle.
Mr. Pandey also said that 12 people were arrested a few days ago for allegedly supplying blood illegally in Prayagraj.
When asked about the case of a private hospital being sealed off on Thursday for allegedly infusing juice instead of blood platelets, he said, “A sample is being sent to a lab and accurate images will appear. only after checking.”
The hospital was put on lockdown after a video of the alleged incident went viral with the statement “juice”. Officials said the patient, Pradeep Pandey, was transferred to another hospital and died after his condition worsened.
An FIR has been registered at the local police station in connection with the incident.
The owner of a private hospital testified that the platelets were brought from another medical facility and that the patient developed a reaction after infusing him with three units.
