This week’s evacuation order affects thousands of people in northern and southern Gaza

The Israeli military ordered residents to leave several areas in central and eastern Khan Younis, located in the south of the enclave, on Thursday, a day after issuing two separate directives for several areas in northern Gaza.

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, OCHA, speak The newly issued evacuation orders cover an area of nearly 43 square kilometers in northern and southern Gaza.

According to initial monitoring data from partners on the ground, these areas include approximately 230 displacement sites, more than three dozen water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, and five operational health facilities, including the Indonesian Hospital.

OCHA said more than 80 percent of the Gaza Strip is now assessed to have complied with evacuation orders since the conflict began last October.

Aid volume reduced by more than half

Meanwhile, getting aid into Gaza remains challenging due to limited access, lack of public order and safety, high levels of insecurity, and other factors.

The amount of aid that can be brought into Gaza through border crossings has been more than halved since early May, after the Rafah crossing with Egypt was closed.

In April, there were an average of 169 trucks per day, dropping to below 80 trucks in June and July.

The drop was even sharper at the Kerem Shalom border crossing with Israel, which saw aid crossings drop by more than 80 percent over the same three-month period, or from 127 trucks per day in April to less than two dozen per day in July.

According to the United Nations, before the war, 500 trucks entered Gaza every day.

Humanitarian assistance missions requiring coordination with Israeli authorities continue to be denied and obstructed, OCHA said.

As of Thursday, only 24 of 67 planned missions to northern Gaza this month had been carried out, while the rest were denied, hindered or canceled for security, logistical or operational reasons.

The situation is similar in southern Gaza, where nearly half of the 100 planned missions were supported by Israel, but the rest were rejected, thwarted or canceled.
