We are working towards a release date Donkey Kong Country Returns HD ABOVE January 16, 2025 and with just over a month to go, Nintendo has revealed the game’s opening cutscene in all its remastered glory.
Now, yes, if you played the original on the Wii back in 2010, this revamped movie won’t appear completely new. But if you’re new to the platformer (or if you’re dying to see that setup in high definition), this should tell you everything you need to know.
Titled ‘The Heist’, the video above shows the Tiki Tak Tribe taking over Donkey Kong Island, hypnotizing its inhabitants and feeding off DK’s precious bananas – not cool at all. Luckily, the tie-wearing primate is not easily swayed and sets out to take revenge in the strongest way possible.
In addition to the HD upgrade, Returns packs HD on all levels from both the Wii and 3DS versions with a total of 80 stages. Perfect for a co-op seat to kick off the new year, right?
