When housing gets too expensive, that doesn’t hurt Taylor Swift or any billionaire. It hurts middle-class Americans all across our country.”

Vance’s comments are insightful on several levels, the first being that Swift is an out-of-touch “billionaire celebrity,” a description that actually describes Donald Trump. Whether people will be swayed to vote for Harris remains to be seen, although so far his theory doesn’t seem entirely plausible. On Thursday, New York Times reported Swift’s Instagram post, which encouraged her followers to register to vote and directed them to a vote.gov link in her stories to do so, had about 406,000 people click on the link within 24 hours. The post, in which Swift wrote that she would vote for Harris because the vice president “fights for rights and causes that I believe require a warrior to defend them,” was liked more than 10 million times.
