The Korean striker admitted to filming a sex video
South Korean soccer player Hwang Ui-jo has apologized for secretly filming a sex scene with his partner.
Prosecutors said the 31-year-old striker filmed sex scenes with his two partners without their consent four times between June and September 2022.
During his first court appearance in Seoul on Wednesday, Hwang said he was “deeply sorry” for causing “disappointment.”
The former striker just left England’s Nottingham Forest last month to join Türkiye’s Alanyaspor.
The videos came to light after Hwang’s sister-in-law shared them on social media last June in an attempt to blackmail him.
She was sentenced to three years in prison in September for extortion after Hwang sued her.
However, charges against him went ahead as prosecutors said he illegally recorded the videos.
Prosecutors declined to provide details about the women in the video to prevent further harm.
“I will not do anything wrong in the future and will do my best as a football player,” Hwang told the court in Seoul.
“I sincerely apologize to the victims who were affected by my actions and I am deeply sorry for the disappointment I have caused to all those who have cared for and supported me,” he added. .
